Northrop Grumman ने पेश किया Raid Hunter, 50mm Gun से ड्रोन स्वार्म और Cruise Missile का होगा मुकाबला

अमेरिकी aerospace और defense कंपनी Northrop Grumman ने अपने नए 50mm Gun-Based Air Defense (GBAD) System का आधिकारिक नाम ‘Raid Hunter’ घोषित किया है. कंपनी ने 11 अगस्त 2026 को इसकी घोषणा करते हुए कहा कि यह सिस्टम short-range, layered air defense में मौजूद एक महत्वपूर्ण capability gap को दूर करने के लिए विकसित किया गया है.

Raid Hunter को विशेष रूप से cruise missiles, drone swarms, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) और अन्य complex aerial threats से military bases, airfields तथा critical infrastructure की सुरक्षा के लिए तैयार किया गया है. कंपनी के अनुसार, यह system तेजी से बदलते aerial threat environment में warfighters को scalable, resilient और cost-effective air defense capability उपलब्ध कराएगा.

Chain Gun और guided 50mm ammunition का इस्तेमाल

Raid Hunter में Northrop Grumman की proven Chain Gun technology, precision-guided 50mm ammunition और एक networked, interoperable system controller को एक साथ integrate किया गया है.

कंपनी के अनुसार, यह combination बड़ी संख्या में एक साथ आने वाले mixed aerial threats के खिलाफ high-capacity firepower उपलब्ध कराता है. इसका उद्देश्य ऐसे हमलों से निपटना है जिनमें cruise missiles, drones और दूसरे aerial threats एक साथ शामिल हो सकते हैं और traditional air defense systems को overwhelm करने की कोशिश कर सकते हैं.

Raid Hunter की guided 50mm ammunition और high-rate-of-fire Chain Gun को बड़ी magazine capacity और fast reload capability के साथ इस्तेमाल किया गया है. Northrop Grumman का कहना है कि यह configuration massed swarming threats के खिलाफ engagement की cost challenge को कम करने में मदद कर सकती है.

C-130 से तेजी से deploy किया जा सकेगा

Raid Hunter को modular design के साथ विकसित किया गया है, जिससे इसे तेजी से transport और deploy किया जा सके. कंपनी के अनुसार, इसका modular palletized form factor इसे C-130 aircraft से तेजी से deploy करने की सुविधा देता है.

Northrop Grumman ने भविष्य में इसके vehicle-mounted और container-based variants विकसित करने की योजना भी बताई है. इन configurations के जरिए system को अलग-अलग operational requirements के अनुसार इस्तेमाल किया जा सकेगा.

बड़ी संख्या में आने वाले aerial threats पर फोकस करेगा Raid Hunter

Northrop Grumman के अनुसार, Raid Hunter को ऐसे aerial threats की बड़ी संख्या से निपटने के लिए optimized किया गया है जो मौजूदा air defense को saturate कर सकते हैं. इनमें cruise missiles, UAS और अन्य advanced threats शामिल हैं. कंपनी का कहना है कि system को शुरू से ही scalable बनाया गया है, ताकि भविष्य में बदलते threats के साथ इसकी capability को विकसित किया जा सके.

Northrop Grumman के Command and Control & Weapons Integration के Vice President और General Manager Kenn Todorov ने कहा कि Raid Hunter short-range defense में एक महत्वपूर्ण gap को address करता है. उनके मुताबिक, यह complex और mass aerial threats के खिलाफ rapid, high-capacity protection उपलब्ध कराने के लिए designed है.

उन्होंने कहा कि modern warfare में large और complex raids traditional defense solutions को overwhelm करने के लिए इस्तेमाल किए जा सकते हैं. Raid Hunter को इसी चुनौती के जवाब के रूप में एक cost-effective और deep-magazine solution के तौर पर विकसित किया गया है, जिसे warfighters तक तेजी से पहुंचाया जा सकता है.

Layered air defense का हिस्सा होगा Raid Hunter

Raid Hunter को Northrop Grumman के Raid Defense Solutions portfolio के तहत विकसित किया गया है. यह कंपनी के Counter-UAS (C-UAS), air defense और integrated air and missile defense capabilities का हिस्सा है.

Raid Defense Solutions में layered kinetic capabilities को शामिल किया गया है, जिनका उद्देश्य increasingly complex और high-volume aerial threats, including coordinated drone swarms, से critical assets की सुरक्षा करना है.

Northrop Grumman के अनुसार, इस portfolio में AI-enabled command and control, sensor fusion और high-rate firepower जैसी capabilities को integrate किया जा रहा है. इसका उद्देश्य threats की faster detection, smarter decision-making और coordinated engagements को सक्षम करना है.

Raid Hunter फिलहाल Northrop Grumman के नए air defense capabilities में शामिल एक महत्वपूर्ण development है. कंपनी का लक्ष्य ऐसी scalable और modular kinetic capability तैयार करना है, जो भविष्य में military bases, airfields और अन्य critical infrastructure को बड़े और complex aerial attacks से बचाने के लिए layered air defense architecture में काम कर सके.
